Gretchen Collins

Retired teacher who dedicated her life to the promotion of music education

Gretchen A. Collins, a resident of Winthrop, passed away peacefully in Saugus on April 7, 2026, at the age of 87. Born to the late Alice (McGillicuddy) and Charles Dirksmayer, Gretchen dedicated her life to the promotion of music education, touching the lives of countless students throughout her career.

A proud graduate of Winthrop High School, she continued her education at Boston University, eventually earning her master’s degree from Boston State Teachers College. Her passion for music led her to serve as a music teacher in the Winthrop, Braintree, and Maynard school systems, where she inspired a love for the arts in her students.

She was the devoted wife of the late Charles Collins and the loving mother of Marc Collins and Heidi Fantasia and her husband, John, all of Winthrop; dear sister of the late Susan Dirksmayer and cherished grandmother of Andrew, Amelia and Evan.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Services concluded with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Marjorie Beaudry

LPN at former Winthrop Hospital and continued to help others at Winthrop Council on Aging

Marjorie A. Beaudry, born in Boston on March 17, 1933, peacefully passed away in Winthrop on April 7, 2026. She was 93 years old. She was the beloved daughter of the late Annie (McGrath) and George Edwards.

Marjorie dedicated many years of her life to healthcare, serving as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Winthrop Hospital before continuing her passion for helping others at the Winthrop Council of Aging. Her commitment to community and care extended beyond her professional life, as she also served as a former Girl Scout leader, guiding and inspiring young people.

Above all, Marjorie was devoted to her family. She cherished attending her grandsons’ sporting events, fostering a deep bond and pride in their accomplishments. Her warmth, kindness, and loving spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was the devoted wife of the late William R. Beaudry and the loving mother of Ann M. Beaudry of Weymouth and Robert G. Beaudry and his wife, Barbara of Winthrop and cherished grandmother of Nicholas and Christopher.

The funeral service was held in the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Monday, April 13, 2026. Services concluded with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
