A funeral for Ellen P. McLaughlin, 95 of Winthrop, formerly of Revere and Jamaica Plain, was held from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Saturday, June 21, 2025 followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church). Services concluded with interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
She was the beloved wife of the late James L. McLaughlin, daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Harney) Grenham, sister of the late Anna T. Grenham and the late Sister Margaret Grenham, mother of Joseph of Winthrop, James and his wife, Virginia of Billerica, Paul and his wife, Therese of Carlsbad, CA, Michael and his wife, Patricia of Peabody, David of Abington, and Peggy and her husband, Paul McElhinney of Reading; grandmother of Erin, James and his wife, Christine, Kara, Kristen, Megan, Christopher, Rosemary, Molly and Patrick and Great Grandmother of Robert. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ellen attended the Blessed Sacrament School in Jamaica Plain, graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and earned an accounting certificate from Bentley College. She worked for multiple banks and retired as a senior accountant for Shawmut National Bank, now Bank of America.
Ellen was a resident of Winthrop for over 35 years. She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Winthrop where for many years she faithfully laundered all the altar cloths and communion linens. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed reading, traveling, baking, crocheting and sewing.
The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Saturday, June 21, 2025 followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church). Services concluded with interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
