Police Blotter 11-19-2020

The following incident reports are among the calls to which the Winthrop Police Department responded on the listed dates:

Monday, Nov. 2

0936: A resident called to report that her employer had informed her that an unemployment claim had been filed fraudulently using her name. The officer filed a report.

1105: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Veterans Rd. at Hadassah Way for the civil motor vehicle infraction (CMVI) of speeding. When the officer determined that the operator’s license was revoked for being an habitual traffic offender, the officer arrested Gerardo Loza Jr., 27, of Chelsea, for the criminal offense of operating a MV with a revoked license and also cited him for the civil infraction of speeding.

1246: An officer responded to a report of a MV parked too closely to the croner on Bellevue Ave. and issued a parking ticket.

1315: A resident reported that a fraudulent unemployment claim had been filed using his identity. The officer filed a report.

1330: A resident came into the station to report being the victim of a fraud. The officer filed a report.

1348: An officer reported finding a small dog that was loose in the 200 block of Winthrop St. and returned it to the owner.

1412: Officers responded to a two-car MVA on Revere St. with personal injuries. One MV was towed.

1450: Officers responded to a report of a noise disturbance on Pleasant St. involving a person who reportedly was cutting 50-gallon oils drums. The Winthrop Fire Dept. also responded and ordered the person to cease and desist from further engaging in that activity.

1827: An officer stopped a MV with a non-renewable registration on Revere St. The officer directed the operator to move the MV onto private property and not to operate it until the registration issue is resolved.

2017: An officer dispersed persons in two vehicles from Hannaford Park.

2306: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. at Banks St. for the civil infraction of not having its headlights on after dark. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

Tuesday, Nov. 3

0039: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. for the civil infraction of a red light violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

0053: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Governors Drive for the civil infractions of a plate light violation and failure to use a turn signal. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

0855: A resident came into the station to report that somebody had attempted to use his identity to file an unemployment claim. The officer filed a report.

1115: A resident came into the station to report that somebody had attempted to use his identity to file an unemployment claim. The officer filed a report.

1445: An officer responded to a minor MVA on Main St. with no injuries and assisted the parties with the exchange of papers.

1534: A resident came into the station to report that her Social Security number may have been compromised. The officer filed a report.

1827: A resident came into the station to report that his son may have been the victim of an assault & battery. The officer filed a report.

1904: A resident came to the station to report that her daughter continues to receive harassing text messages. The resident was advised that since this is the third incident, her daughter may apply in court for an harassment prevention restraining order pursuant to c. 258E.

2247: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. at Banks St. for the civil infraction of not having its headlights on after dark. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2251: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. for the civil infraction of a red light violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2336: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Revere St. at Hutchinson St. for a civil motor vehicle infraction . The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

Wednesday, Nov. 4

1000: A report of a fire hydrant gushing water in the 200 block of Shirley St. was referred to the DPW.

1221: Officers assisted the Fire Dept., which was responding to a report of the smell of natural gas in the Atlantis Marina condos.

1243: Officers assisted with traffic control at the scene of a water main break on Main St. at the Belle Isle Bridge.

1427: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) in the 300 block of Revere St. for a civil motor vehicle infraction (CMVI) of failing to use a directional signal. When the officer determined that the operator did not have a valid Mass. license, he arrested Flauberty Silva, 25, of 40 Argyle St., for the criminal offenses of unlicensed operation of a MV and for possession of a counterfeit note and cited him for the civil infraction of failing to signal.

1444: An officer responded to a report of a noise complaint in the 100 block of Pleasant St. and directed two youths who were playing a guitar loudly on their front porch to cease doing so.

1847: Officers directed a person, who was an East Boston resident, at the Ingleside Park skate park to leave the premises.

1918: An officer responded to a report of a parked MV blocking a driveway in the 100 block of Hermon St. The officer issued a parking ticket and the owner came out to move the MV.

Thursday, Nov. 5

0131: An officer directed a loud group of party-goers on Jefferson St. to keep it down for the night.

1459: An officer responded to a report of a disturbance involving three roommates and their landlord in the 100 block of Washington Ave. The officer suggested to the landlord not to become involved in his tenants’ issues and directed the roommates to quiet down.

1506: Officers responded to a three-car MVA at Revere and Shirley Sts. A male party was transported to MGH and two of the vehicles were towed.

1614: An officer responded to a report of a group of youths playing basketball at the Swede Nelson playground on Pond St. The officer observed that the youths were wearing masks and directed them to maintain their social distance.

1640: An officer dispersed three persons who were playing at Miller Field.

1915: A resident came into the station to report that his identity had been used for the filing of a fraudulent unemployment claim.

Friday, Nov. 6

0012: An officer directed two persons in a MV on Kennedy Rd. to leave the area.

1045: Officers arrested a 25 year-old Winthrop man on an outstanding warrant.

1242: Officers responded to a minor MVA at Sturgis St. and Shore Drive. There were no injuries and the officer filed a report.

1345: A resident came into the station to report that her identity had been used for the filing of a fraudulent unemployment claim.

1406: Officers responded to a report of a dump truck striking a parked MV in the 900 block of Shirley St. The officer filed a report.

1608: An officer dispersed a group of youths playing basketball without masks at the Swede Nelson playground.

2255: An officer dispersed two vehicles from the area of the Ft. Banks playground on Kennedy Rd.

Saturday, Nov. 7

0103: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Grovers Ave. and Revere St. for the civil infractions of a registration plate violation and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

0143: An officer directed a loud group of party-goers in a Jefferson St. apartment to quiet down for the night.

0220: Officers responded to a report of a MVA in the 200 block of Shore Drive in which a passing MV struck a parked pick-up truck. The officers were unable to locate the owners of either MV and State Police came on the scene to take charge of the accident.

0713: An officer ordered a tow for a parked MV that was obstructing traffic on Wave Way Ave. 

1016: A resident came into the station to report that her identity had been used for the filing of a fraudulent unemployment claim.

1144: An officer assisted the parties at a minor MVA at the Bank of America on Main St. with the exchange of papers. When the officer determined that the operator of one of the vehicles did not have a valid Mass. license, the officer issued a citation to the owner of that vehicle for the criminal offense of allowing an unlicensed operator to use his MV.

Sunday, Nov. 8

0810: A Lincoln St. resident reported that her MV had been struck and damaged by a hit-and-run operator overnight. The officer filed a report.

0936: An officer issued a parking ticket to a MV that had been parked for more than 15 minutes in the 15-minute parking space in the 200 block of Shirley St.

1623: A resident reported being the victim of a past larceny. The officer filed a report.

1757: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. at Pleasant Park Rd. for the civil infraction of speeding. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2000: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Pauline St. at Woodside Ave. for a civil infraction and gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2054: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Pleasant St. for a civil infraction. When the officer determined that the operator did not have a valid Mass. license, the officer issued a citation to the operator for the criminal offense of unlicensed operation of a MV and ordered the MV to be towed.
