William R. Henderson, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, passed away on July 29, 2026 at the age of 80. William, Hendy, Cat was married to Roberta (Armstrong) Henderson for 53 years. Billy was the father of Brad Henderson and grandfather of Rachael Henderson. And, of course, our Miss Sasha.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Gladys Henderson; brothers and sisters: Robert Henderson, Dorothy Worden, Joan Hall, Ronald Henderson, Patricia Fleury and John Joseph Henderson. He is survived by his sister, Carol White of New Hampshire and many nieces and nephews.
Billy retired from American Airlines and spent as much of time as possible on the ocean fishing. The Winthrop Yacht Club was his home away from home and he was a lifelong member. The fish are thankful that they don’t have to worry about him anymore.
In honor of his memory, remember laughable moments at Delby’s Corner, the Amvets, the seawall at the circle and Winthrop Yacht Club. Raise a glass to the best fisherman ever (according to him).
