In Loving Memory
John Phillip Montuori, affectionately known to family and friends as “Skip,” passed away at the age of 67. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born and raised in Winthrop, Skip was the beloved son of Barbara (Hilton) Montuori and John C. Montuori. He attended Winthrop High School and studied electronics for three years at Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School. He later earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology, launching a successful career built on knowledge, dedication, and integrity.
Skip worked in the biomedical field, where his technical expertise and commitment to excellence earned him certifications in thermography (FLIR) and recognition as a Master Dominet Installer. He approached every challenge with skill, patience, and a willingness to help others, qualities that defined both his professional and personal life.
For the past 45 years, Skip shared an extraordinary life with his beloved wife, Claire. Together they built a marriage filled with love, laughter, friendship, and unwavering devotion. Their bond was the foundation of his life, and together they created countless memories that will be cherished forever.
Skip made his home in Meredith, New Hampshire, where he embraced the beauty of the lakes and outdoors. He found great joy in boating, fishing, traveling, and cheering on his beloved New England Patriots.
Whether on the water, on the road exploring new places, or gathered with family and friends, he was happiest sharing life’s simple pleasures with the people he loved.
He is survived by his loving wife, Claire; his sisters, Susan Beck of Kissimmee, Florida, and Nancy Montuori of Glendale, California. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Montuori. Skip was also a treasured uncle to his nieces and nephews, all of whom lovingly knew him simply as “Uncle Skip.”
Those who knew Skip will remember far more than his accomplishments. They will remember a genuinely good man whose kindness came naturally, whose generosity knew no limits, and who was always the first to lend a helping hand. He never expected anything in return; he simply believed in taking care of others. His warm smile, quiet strength, and caring heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Skip’s life was measured not only by the years he lived, but by the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, compassion, and gentle spirit will continue to inspire all who carry his memory. His family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on in every act of kindness, every story shared, and every life he made better simply by being part of it.
A celebration of life will be held at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks, 191 Washington Ave. Winthrop, September 5, from 1 to 6 p.m. In the meantime, his family invites those who knew and loved him to honor his memory by extending the same kindness, generosity, and helping hand that he so freely gave throughout his life.
