Fire hits two homes and an electric vehicle on River Road

A four-alarm fire hit two residential homes and an electric vehicle at 155-157 River Road shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Four families were displaced as a result of the fire, according to fire officials.

One woman who was pregnant, Chiara Keenan, and her husband were transported to the hospital as a precaution. Keenan went into labor and gave birth to a baby girl named Giannina Grace Keenan on Monday, according to officials.

Fire Chief Stephen Calandra said he was proud of the coordinated effort of first responders who prevented the fire from spreading any further.

The chief said he also wanted to remind all residents to make sure they have working smoke detectors in their homes to provide a crucial early warning system.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Calandra stated that the fire likely started from the electric vehicle, and that electric vehicle fires are difficult to contain and require a lot of manpower.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire.
