Winthrop Middle Schoolstudents launch ‘LemonadeFor Heroes’ to support veterans

Staff Report

Sixth-graders Gabriella Blamer and Carmen Bauer from Winthrop Middle School have started a new initiative, Lemonade For Heroes, as a way to honor and thank veterans for their service. The girls believe veterans deserve to feel appreciated every day.

The project is a continuous fundraising effort to host various appreciation events for veterans. Gabriella, whose family includes veterans from all military branches, including her father who served in OIF/OEF, and Carmen, whose late grandfather served in Vietnam, was inspired by their personal connections to service members.

Lemonade For Heroes plans to host multiple fundraising stands throughout the year, featuring lemonade, apple cider, and hot cocoa, to raise the money needed for their veteran-focused events.
