Kimberly Dimes has announced her candidacy for Town Council, Precinct 2. The following is her statement:
“Hello Winthrop!
Kimberly Dimes here, lifelong Winthrop resident and third generation town advocate, officially announcing my candidacy for Winthrop Town Council, Precinct 2.
With deep roots in my community and a career devoted to public service, infrastructure and environmental protection, I believe I bring a unique and personal perspective to the race. Winthrop isn’t just where I live – it’s who I am. This town raised me, and I am ready to give back by helping guide it toward a resilient, sustainable, and thriving future.
I currently serve as the Chairperson of the Winthrop Conservation Commission, and as an appointed member of the Citizens Commission on Climate and the new central Fire House Building Committee. I currently work in Operations at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. Before MWRA, I spent 17 years as a member of the Laborers Union working in building infrastructure, bridges and roads.
My campaign is focused on the issues most critical to Winthrop’s future:
• Coastal resiliency and flood protection
• Support for local businesses and economic vitality
• Clean beaches and a healthy shoreline
• Preserving the character and charm of Winthrop for future generations
I believe in practical solutions rooted in local knowledge. I know the value of hard work, and I know what it takes to protect and improve the town we all love. I’m running because I truly care about Winthrop’s future, and I know Precinct 2 deserves a strong, thoughtful voice on the Town Council.
I invite residents to join me in a campaign centered on community, transparency, and a shared love of Winthrop. Together, we can make sure Winthrop remains the town we’re proud to call home.
