Gracie’s Back! Her High Falutin’ Band Plays at Belle Isle Tonight

Hometown favorite Grace Curran and The High Falutin’ Band will be performing tonight at Belle Isle Seafood.

Curran, a former Winthrop High star athlete who went on to play women’s professional football, will lead the band in a show, “Belle Isle Blues” before an expected large crowd of friends, family, and fans.

“I’m really excited to be performing again in Winthrop,” said Curran, who last graced the stage at Belle Isle three years ago. “It’s our second time in Winthrop. It was a lot of fun the first time and we’re excited to do it again.”

Curran said she’s especially excited to see her former childhood friends and high school classmates.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone I grew up with and went to school with,” said Curran. “It makes it awesome to come home.”

Though her parents now reside in Florida, Gracie said her sisters, Rebecca and Stephanie, and their children will be at Belle Isle, a popular restaurant and social gathering spot.

“If I still lived in Winthrop, Belle Isle would be my hangout spot,” said Gracie.

The band is based in Memphis but is currently touring full time. It has performed frequently on legendary Beale Street, which is in downtown Memphis.

“We’ve hit the road and haven’t stopped performing,” said Gracie. “We just started this new leg of the tour in Indiana and it’s going to take us to Chicago, Texas, and the Beale Street Music Festival. We’re doing about 8,000 miles of touring in the next three weeks.”

Gracie and the band are releasing their new album, which is titled, “Come Undone.”  Grace said the album title signifies, “being on the ground and picking yourself back up and putting yourself back together. I’m really grateful I made the jump to come to Memphis.”

She is very proud of the album.

“We’re really happy with it – it’s not just the blues or soul,” said Gracie. “It’s a little bit of everything and everywhere we’ve been over the past five years. We have influences from all over the place. We’ve been working on it for a while now, so we’re excited to actually get it out there. We’re excited to share it with people.”

Fans at the show can expect a dynamic performance by Grace who interacts so magically with audiences at her live shows and truly has a flair for the stage – which should come as no surprise to those who have long admired the personable and gregarious young lady who could light up a room with her smile and mere presence.
