High School Senior Fits Part-Time Job into Busy Schedule

Seventeen-year-old Emma Carleton is no stranger to team sports. Since she was five years old, she played hockey, and that passion continued throughout her school years, later landing her the role of captain on the high school’s varsity team.

Her love of being on the ice spilled over to the field, and Carleton is the captain of the varsity soccer team, and she also plays varsity lacrosse. When the active senior isn’t busy being a team player, she’s involved in student council and the senior class social committee.

She’s also discovered a love of math and engineering, thanks to her participation in the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) club. Miraculously, Carleton manages to fit a part-time job into her schedule at Letterie’s Italian Market.

What do you like about working at Letterie’s?

I began working at Letterie’s last year, in the summer of 2017. What I enjoy most is getting to interact with people in the community and making food for others. My favorite thing to cook is a steak and cheese, I recommend it.

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subject is physics because I enjoy math and find the class very interesting. I have always understood numbers, and a subject devoted to applying math to real life situations in order to solve them is very intriguing.

Any future goals?

I plan to go to a four-year university and study engineering, which will lead to a career in the engineering field as well.

Who is your role model?

My role models would have to be my father, Sean Carleton, and my hockey coach, Butch Martucci. They have both been coaching me since I was five years old and have helped shape me into the person I am today, always pushing me to do better and become the best that I can be.
