Fourth Annual Taste of Winthrop – September 30 at the Winthrop Yacht Club

Whether you are an avid foodie, a philanthropist with a soft spot for local charitable efforts, or just hungry, The fourth annual Taste of Winthrop to be held next Wednesday, September 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Winthrop Yacht Club, is definitely an event you want to check out.

“This is a really exciting event,” said Maggie Morris of Moonstruck Café and the Taste of Winthrop chairperson. “All of the proceeds go to Winthrop beautification efforts, through the Chamber of Commerce’s beautification grants program, all the restaurants donate their food and their time, and the Winthrop Yacht Club donates the space.”

And with 33 restaurants already signed up this year, the Taste of Winthrop provides event-goers with a unique opportunity to try offerings from some of their favorite local restaurants, or even a few new spots they haven’t tried before.

“This event has sold out in each of the first three years we’ve held it, and so far, tickets sales this year make it look like we’ll have a fourth straight sell-out this year,” said Morris.

All of the 33 restaurants participating in the event are from Winthrop and the surrounding area, and the menu offerings range from Italian and Chinese cuisine to Mexican, Mediterranean and even café and fast food specialties.

“The goal of the Chamber’s beautification program is to make our commercial districts cleaner and greener,” said Chamber Executive Director Eric Gaynor. “Proceeds from this event in past years have been used for façade improvements, storefront upgrades, flower boxes, plantings, trees, and soon, new trash receptacles that will be provided to the Public Works Department for installation in business districts around town.”

Tickets for this event are $30 per person and are available for sale at the Moonstruck Café and the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce office in the Winthrop Centre, online at www.winthropchamber.com, or by calling the Chamber at 617-846-9898.
