Diane Weinstein

Diane Weinstein, 86, formerly of Chelsea, and a longtime resident of Winthrop, passed away peacefully on May 6,20 26, surrounded by her loving family.
Diane was the beloved wife of the late Harry Weinstein, the devoted mother of Nancy Weinstein, Paul Weinstein and his wife, Marianne and Robert Weinstein and his wife, Nicole. She was the cherished grandmother of Leeanne Weinstein and her significant other, Dave Mellen.
Born and raised in Chelsea, Diane was the daughter of the late Sarah “Sally” Cooperstein and stepfather, Nat Cooperstein. She spent many joyful summers as a member of the Pleasant Park Yacht Club, where she was surrounded by dear friends and family who enriched her life through the years.
Graveside services were held at Rabbi Isaac Elchonon Cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, on Friday, May 8 and memorial observance was private.

Robert Kepnes
He will forever be remembered for his quick wit and humor, his intellectual curiosity, his carefree way of life, and, of course, his story telling
Robert Kepnes, 72, of Winthrop, “Roddy” to everyone who knew and loved him, passed away on May 4th after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Winthrop, Roddy was the beloved son of the late Gertrude “Nessie” (Score) Kepnes and the late Pershing “Keppie” Kepnes of Winthrop and Lake Worth, Florida.
Roddy graduated from Winthrop High School and attended Emery Riddle Aeronautics School of Aviation in Florida. He later went on to work for Bell South Telephone Company in Florida for many years until his retirement.
Roddy will forever be remembered for his quick wit and humor, his intellectual curiosity, his carefree way of life, and, of course, his story telling. He loved strawberry shakes, blackjack, horse races, and an open window where he could savor the ocean breeze. He was passionate about politics and he loved his family immensely.
Roddy is survived by his brothers: Barry Kepnes and his wife, Lynn of Winthrop and Paul Kepnes and his partner, Joanna Rose of Marblehead, his nephew, Matthew Kepnes and his nieces; Rachel Kepnes, Lindsey Kepnes Joffe, and Heidi Kepnes.
A graveside funeral was held on May 8th at Ahavath Achim Anshe Sfard Cemetery in Lynn,

Robert Hanafin Jr.
Of Winthrop
Robert William Hanafin Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2026.
Rob was the beloved eldest son of Barbara Molloy Hanafin and Robert William Hanafin Sr. He was the devoted brother of Ryan Hanafin and Shaun Hanafin, and a loving brother-in-law to Patty and Dera. Rob was a proud uncle to Cam, Aiden, and Adam, and a cherished great-uncle to three young children.
A graduate of Winthrop High School, Rob proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He later continued his education and graduated from Salem State University.
Rob will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, extended family members, and his wide circle of lifelong friends whose lives he touched with his loyalty, humor, and kind heart.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert’s memorial service at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2 p.m..
John “Jack” Dyer, Jr
Longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Winthrop Yacht Club
John “Jack” M. Dyer Jr, 81, formerly of Winthrop and Trinity, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, after enduring a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s / Dementia.
Jack grew up in Winthrop, was a graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1963 and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Winthrop Yacht Club.
A truly self-made man, Jack built a successful and respected career in the financial sector through his sharp mind and tireless work ethic. Upon his retirement, he moved to Trinity, Florida, where he traded the New England winters for sunshine and a vibrant social life. He fully embraced his favorite pastimes, including golf, tennis, attending sporting events, and spirited card games with friends. An avid Boston sports fan and a talented cook, Jack was happiest when a game was on the television and his kitchen was filled with the aromas of a meal he was preparing for those he loved.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John M. Dyer and Alice (Fitzpatrick) Proctor, and his sister, Deborah (Proctor) Vraux. He is survived by his brother, Richard “Rip” Dyer, his three children, Karen (Dyer) Allaway, Stacy (Dyer) Taylor and John M. Dyer III, his daughter-in-law, Jill (McLaughlin) Dyer and his seven grandchildren: Kelsey, Kurt, Julian, Emily, Robin, Maeve, and Braden.
Judy Anne Barry
She inherited her father’s generosity of spirit
Judy Anne (Lounsbury) Barry died May 5th, 2026 at Artis Senior Living in Reading, Massachusetts. She was 77 years old. At her side were her brother, Dave and best friend, Cheryl Rogers. The cause of death was complications of a long decline with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Stoneham,, August 28th, 1948, she was the second child and only daughter of Robert Stewart Lounsbury and Laurette (Gauthier) Lounsbury. She was a graduate of Stoneham High School. Subsequently she was employed in a managerial position at New England Tel & Tel as a line assigner, where she met Jack Barry of Winthrop. They married in 1975.
She and Jack traveled widely in the United States and abroad. But they always returned to the big Winthrop home they loved, smack on Boston Harbor, where Judy always had a couple of cats to spoil. She was an avid Bruins and Red Sox fan.
Judy inherited her father’s generosity of spirit. She was the glue that bonded and held the five kids — four boys and herself — together throughout good times and bad. She is survived by her brothers, Dave and Paul Lounsbury; several cousins, nephews, and nieces; and longtime close friend, Cheryl Rogers of Acton. Two brothers, Guy and Don; and her husband, Jack, died before her.
Burial will be at Winthrop Cemetery.
