Ellen M. Leary

Retired Switchboard Operator

Ellen M. Leary of Winthrop passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers on April 20, 2025. She was 94 years old. Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Catherine (Dillon) and Joseph Dobbins. She grew up in Dorchester before moving to Winthrop in 1944. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a switchboard operator for Deloitte Accounting.

She was the devoted wife of the late Frederick E. Leary and the loving mother of Kathleen King of Lynn, Robert Leary and his wife, Vivian of Falmouth, Paul Leary and his wife. Patricia of Winthrop, John Leary and his wife, Andrea of Marblehead and Diane Leary of Lynn; dear sister of the late Joseph Dobbins; cherished grandmother of Lauren Davis and her husband, Kevin of Andover, Meredith King of Watertown, Ryan Leary and his wife, Shannon of Marblehead and Kathryn Janssen and her husband, Charles of Marblehead; great grandmother of Owen and Andrew Davis, Jack and Tate Leary and Charlotte Janssen and loving aunt of Robert Leary, Anne DeSimone and Daniel Dobbins.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, April 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 12:30 p.m. Services will conclude with the interment in Winthrop Cemetery.

Marilyn M. Consolante

Devout Catholic who dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family

Marilyn M. Consolante of Winthrop passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 87 years old. Born in Boston, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of the late Margarite (Luongo) and Luca Minichino. She grew up in East Boston, attending and graduating from Girls’ High School in 1955, before moving to Winthrop 70 years ago. Prior to her marriage, she worked for several years as a bookkeeper.

Throughout her life, Marilyn was a devout Catholic and very enthusiastic traveler who loved seeing new places and meeting people. In recent years, she especially enjoyed travelling with her children, sons- and daughter-in law, and grandchildren to various destinations, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Turks and Caicos, Chicago, New York, and Disney World. To anyone who ever visited her home, Marilyn was unfailingly cheerful and hospitable, delighting guests with her wonderful cooking, Italian baking specialties, and engaging conversation. She also took special pride in eagerly attending and joyously watching her grandchildren’s many different sporting competitions, dance recitals, and school performances.

Marilyn dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family, spending 45 years as a devoted wife of the late Anthony “Papa” Consolante. She was the loving mother of Christine Emerton and her husband Mark of Danvers, Peter L. Consolante and his wife Marnie of Malden, and Andrea Baez and her husband Ricky of Winthrop; dear sister of Theresa Lusty of Carson, Washington, and the late Louis Minichino and Richard Minichino; and will forever be cherished “Grammie” of Avery, Adrianna, and R.J. To her many dear friends and neighbors, both long-time and more recent, Marilyn was particularly adored and will be greatly missed. To those lucky enough to have met and known Marilyn, she will always be remembered for her personal warmth, spirit, and, most especially, her unwavering love and devotion to her family.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 9 a,m. followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop Street, Winthrop at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with the internment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
