Letters to the Editor

Honan Not Running

Dear Editor:

As many of you know, I wear many hats, husband, father, grandfather, care package organizer, artist, Historic Commission member, teacher, American Legion Post 146 Commander, Beautification Committee member, Sesquicentennial Committee member, Veteran’s advocate and a board member of the Winthrop Housing Authority. For the past ten years, I have enjoyed being part of the decision making process to make the Winthrop Housing Authority’s property a nice place to live for many of our residents, seniors and our military Veterans

After much consideration, I have decided not to seek re-election to the WHA Board of Directors.   Time for some new faces!  I will finish out my existing term which concludes in January of 2024, but I will not be a candidate for re-election.

For those interested in running for this open four year term, you must pull your nomination papers by Tuesday, September 5 and return them to the Town Clerk with 150 names(175 is better) by Tuesday, September 19.

Richard D. Honan

Thank You Tracey

Dear Editor,

I’m writing to publicly thank Tracey Honan for her very kind letter and her support of my campaign to serve as the at-large town councilor. Tracey’s service on the town council, and her many years of volunteerism are a display of her commitment to the town. I hope Tracey will continue on giving her time to improve the town as a volunteer again.

So far, I’ve been able to meet with a wide variety of voters around town from different backgrounds, and at different stages in their lives. I’ve learned that dedication to the town is not uncommon; many residents are so invested in the town’s success that they are willing to give their time and talents. Their uncommon dedication has been inspiring. I look forward to meeting and listening to more residents about the everyday issues. Topping the list of concerns recently has been the transparency and communication surrounding the new fire station. At the committee meeting I attended, all the members expressed their commitment to getting the word and information out to all the residents across various channels. As one voter, I look forward to learning more about this issue as we approach the November vote. As a candidate who will be asking for you vote, I hope to reach as many of you as possible before November 7.
