Student Highlight: Evan Bernstein Finds Joy in Acting

Since Evan Bernstein was 8 years old, theater has been his outlet. It all started when his parents signed him up for Kids Call Stage Productions, launching his long-time love of acting, singing, and dancing. “I’ve loved being on stage and performing since I was a kid,” said Bernstein, who admits musicals are his favorite. “It’s just so much fun to play a character. You get to live that character’s life and see the world through their eyes.

Out of all the shows that you have been in, what are your favorites?

My favorite shows that I’ve performed in probably have to be “Anything Goes” and “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subject in school is definitely drama. It’s really just a place where I can express myself. I personally love when we write scripts to perform for people outside the class, since it gives us a chance to showcase what we’ve been working on. Mrs. Calinda is also such a fun and supportive teacher.

Who is your role model?

My role model is probably 11th-grader, Olivia Festa. She’s a super talented actress and an all-around amazing performer. She inspires me to get out of my comfort zone both on and off stage. She’s helped me grow so much as a person, and I can tell she’s destined for greatness.
