SANFORD TO HOLD Neighborhood Meeting

Councilor Russ Sanford will hold a neighborhood meeting at the E.B. Newton Building on Pauline Street on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m.. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss and hear an update on the project at 142 Pleasant St., the old nursing home.

Free smoke alarms and CO detectors

The Massachusetts Red Cross and the Winthrop Fire Department will be installing free smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on Saturday, January 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call the Winthrop Fire Department at 617-539-1062 to register for a free smoke alarm installation.

Apply for Your 2017 Parking Permit Online

Online applications for 2017 Resident Parking Permits are now being accepted either online at winthropstickers.cityhallsystems.com or at the Town Clerk’s Office.

There is no fee for a parking permit if you apply online.  There is a fee of $10 for a visitor’s placard whether you apply online or in person.  This fee is waived for senior citizens, or residents with a valid handicapped parking placard or plate issued by the RMV.   There is a $5 fee for a permit if you apply in person. 2017 Dog Licenses Now Available

Dog Licenses for 2017 are now on sale online on the Town’s website at http://www.town.winthrop.ma.us/where  .   When opening the link go to letter D to choose Dogs. A License Form will also be included at the bottom of your annual Census in January, which you can use to mail in your renewal and have the tag mailed to you. To avoid long lines at our counter, residents are strongly encouraged to mail in the form and supporting documentation or complete the transaction online. Tags must be purchased before March 31, 2017  to avoid late fees.
