DeLeo’s Women’s Health Forum with Guest Jillian Dempsey

House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo, in partnership with the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, will host the 19th annual Women’s Health Forum on Wednesday, October 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Winthrop High School.

This year Jillian Dempsey, a professional women’s hockey player, will speak on women’s health, generally, and her career as a top-level athlete, specifically. A Winthrop-native, Dempsey had a storied college hockey career, serving as the captain of Harvard’s hockey team and being one of the leading goal scorers in the nation.

“Women’s health is a vital community issue. I take great pride in hosting this forum every year,” Speaker DeLeo said. “This special event is an excellent opportunity to come together, speak with experts and get the best health information out there. Medical advice changes so rapidly that it can be difficult to keep up. I believe this event is an exceptional resource and I hope to see a large turnout this year. I’m particularly excited for folks to come in and get a look at our fantastic new high school as well.”

Throughout his tenure as a public official Speaker DeLeo has been at the forefront in supporting women’s health initiatives. He has been the driving force between comprehensive domestic violence legislation and an advocate for a number of important health measures.

In addition to the keynote address, the forum will feature free flu shots and blood pressure testing. A number of local health providers will be present to provide information. Light refreshments will be served.
