The Speaker Says No New Taxes

That was quite a headline in the lead story in Monday’s Boston Globe with Speaker Robert A. DeLeo stating there will be no new taxes in 2016 in the state of Massachusetts. That’s welcome news for all workers in the state and one more example of Speaker DeLeo standing up for his constituents in Winthrop and Revere and people across the Commonwealth.

As the most powerful Democrat in state government, Bob has proven to be a highly respected leader of the 160-member House of Representatives and his ability to put the focus on the most important issues facing our state — child care, healthcare, the opioid crisis, domestic abuse — and to get things done, has set him apart and made him one of the best  — if not THE best — speakers in our state’s history.

What’s gratifying is that Bob continues to be so visible at local events. He was in attendance at the Winthrop inauguration and then hustled over to Revere to congratulate new Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo following that city’s inauguration ceremony. Bob enjoyed a tremendous reception in Revere, affirming his popularity throughout the district that he represents.
