Carmen Rauseo Caprio

Longtime member of Christopher Columbus High School staff, woman of elegance and style

Carmen Rauseo Caprio of Juno Beach, Florida, passed away on October 23 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida after a brief illness. She was 92 years young.

She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Louis William Caprio, Sr. of Revere and the daughter of the late Angelo and Michelena Rauseo of East Boston. She is survived by her loving son, Louis William Caprio, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Miami, Florida and was a devoted mother to the late Lucille DiFlumeri of Revere and the late Robert Caprio of Coral Springs, Fflorida. Carmen was one of 11 siblings and is survived only by her dear sister, Margaret Tripoli of Peabody. Carmen was loved and loved all her grandchildren: Christopher Di Flumeri and his wife, Nicole, Keith Caprio and his wife, Agatha, Kenneth Caprio, Danielle Caprio, Ashley Porcaro and her husband, Steven, Tye Ridolfi and Sinclaire Caprio. Carmen also enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her great-grandchildren: Madelyn Schmidt, Sierra Di Flumeri, Ruthie Sullivan and Dominic Caprio.

Carmen was born in Boston and was an honors graduate of Boston Latin High School. In addition to raising three children, she was a long time member of the school staff at Christopher Columbus High School in Boston’s North End. Carmen lived in the Boston area for 75 years before moving to Boca Raton permanently in 2002, then she relocated again in 2008 to The Waterford Community in Juno Beach, FL, where she lived the remainder of her years. She was an active member of her church and community while living in Boston and continued that commitment in Florida right up to the last month of her life.

Carmen’s commitment to her family, her faith and God supported and carried her through to her very last days. She was a woman of elegance and style, who set high goals and standards for herself and expected no less from her children.

A Mass celebrating Carmen’s life will be held at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Revere on Saturday, November 14 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carmen’s memory to the Franciscan Mission Associates, 274-280 West Lincoln Ave, P.O. Carmella ‘Millie’ Pirone

Of East Boston

Carmella “Millie” (Leone) Pirone of East Boston passed away on November 8 surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Pirone; loving mother of Patrick Pirone and his wife, Diana of Winthrop; cherished grandmother of Dana, Adam and Leah; dear sister of John Leone, Pasquale Leone and Frank Leone, all of East Boston and the late Clementina “Tina” Cornetta. Her Funeral will be held from the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St., (Orient Heights) East Boston today, Thursday, November 12 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Millie’s life in the Most Holy Redeemer Church, 65 London St., East Boston at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Margaret Poirier

Long time Jordan Marsh employee; active First Church of Winthrop United Methodist

Margaret C. (MacQueen) Poirier of Winthrop passed away at the Abbott House Nursing Home in Lynn on November 4. She was 98 years old.

Margaret was a long time employee of the Jordan Marsh Dept. Store where she worked in the claims and adjustments department. She was an active member of the First Church of Winthrop United Methodist and one of her favorite hobbies was to square dance.

The beloved wife of the late Philip D. Poirier, she was born in Boularderie, Nova Scotia, Canada, the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Johanna (Morrison) MacQueen. She was the devoted mother of Sharon J. Bochnak and her husband, William and Wendell D. Poirier and his wife, Alida, all of Swampscott; adored grandmother of William, Robert, Philip Bochnak and Nicole Poirier and great grandmother of Alicia, Aniceta, William, Benjamin and Mateo; loving aunt of Shelia, Louise, Betty and Bruce; dear sister of the late Dave, Phil, Jack and Charles MacQueen. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop. Her Funeral Service was held in the First Church of Winthrop United Methodist and burial followed in Winthrop Cemetery. Lillian Marie Cassens

Violinist who played Carnegie Hall

On October 28, 2015 a beautiful soul left this earth, one day after her 103rd birthday – Lillian Marie Cassens.

She was born in Winthrop to Agnes Rock and Tyler James McEachern. She graduated from Winthrop High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston. She played the violin and played in Carnegie Hall. Before moving to Phoenix, she enjoyed traveling by train and bus with her friends.

Lillian moved from Winthrop to Rochester, NY and later to Lake Havasu City, AZ. She helped to raise her six grandchildren. Her final two years were spent in Phoenix, AZ at Vista Del Rio Retirement home, where she had many friends, especially Irene and Warren.

Lillian was preceded in death by her siblings: Grace, Marie, Eleanor, Herman, George and James. She loved her grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments: Allen (Paula), Rochester, NY; Kevin, M.D. (Cheryl Avegno), LA; Pamela, N.P. (Richard Waychoff), Phoenix, AZ; James (Marie Tabata) Camas, WA; Brian (Paula Hoeffliger) Las Vegas, NV; and Keith, San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren: Marissa Roberts, R.N. of Phoenix, AZ; Michael of California; Chloe and Keegan of Louisiana; Jack, Joseph and Jace of Camas, Washington; Han and Josie of Ohio; Marcus of Rochester, NY and by her two great-great-grandchildren: Tierney and Nathan of Rochester, NY.

Condolences may be sent to her surviving daughter, Mary Lou Callerame, M.D. at 5742 W Gambit Trail, Phoenix, AZ 85083. Lillian will be interred with her daughters, Marjorie Gertrude and Grace Marie Cassens in Winthrop Cemetery.
