Brian Gill, the popular principal of the Cummings Elementary School, has announced that he will be leaving the Winthrop school system to take the position as the principal of the Georgetown Middle School.
Brian, 45, is a dedicated educator and administrator. He is a Winthrop native who understood our community and who always strove to ensure that the best interests of his students came first.
Although there is a pay increase (about $4,000) with his new job, Brian indicated that the move was dictated primarily by personal and professional reasons. He made a decision at this point in his career to accept a new challenge. The students, teachers and parents at the Cummings School, certainly will miss his presence but we know we join with them in wishing Brian the best in his new position.
