Winthrop firefighters Local 170 announced this week that they have been in contact with Santa Claus and have finalized arrangements for jolly old elf’s annual trip through Winthrop, beginning at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 24 and ending at approximately 9 p.m.

“The Winthrop firefighters will once again accompany Santa on his annual trip through the town and the arrangements have all been made,” said Winthrop Fire Captain Richard Swartz.

The entire trip through town is included below, complete with the approximate times that Santa will visit each neighborhood. Each year on Christmas Eve, Santa enlists the assistance of the Winthrop Firefighters who load up his sleigh on one of the fire trucks and drive him through town, so that all of Winthrop’s good little boys and girls, can catch a glimpse of Santa, before he begins his gift giving trip around the world.

Anyone who is new to town, or hasn’t taken the time to catch the trip in the past, is encouraged to take a look at the schedule below to see when Santa will be visiting their neighborhood.

Residents are also cautioned to make sure that their cars, and the cars of any visitors they may have, are parked legally, and within a safe distance form intersections.

“Santa’s trip can’t be slowed down by rain or snow, but cars parked too closely to intersections may cause problems as the fire truck carrying Santa’s sleigh attempts to navigate the town streets,” said Captain Swartz.
