WHS Students Donate to ‘Survivors by the Sea’

This past January, the students of the Winthrop High Digital Photography and Graphic Design course and the Advanced Art classes displayed and sold their art and photography at the Book Depot to raise money for a local charity, “Survivors by the Sea.”

“Survivors by the Sea is an organization whose goal is to ‘Pay It Forward’,” said founder Linda Calla. “We nurture cancer patients and their families through treatment with love, experience, and empathy. Beyond treatment, we help survivors maintain their quality of life through continued support, friendship and healthy living.”

The students of the Winthrop High Digital Photography and Graphic Design course and the Advanced Art classes recently displayed and sold their art and photography at the Book Depot to raise money for the local charitable organization,“Survivors by the Sea.”

The class was inspired to raise money to donate in the name of retired art teacher Eva Kearney, who is currently undergoing a battle with cancer. The class met with Eva and Calla to celebrate the successful fundraiser. The class hopes to make this a yearly effort as a way to raise money, display some amazing art, and promote Survivors by the Sea.

Mr. Donnelly and the Digital Photography class would like to thank Susan Martucci and Suzanne Gallo of the Book Depot for displaying the art work, supporting the fundraiser, and doing all they do for the community.
