Seeking Scholarship Contributions

Dear Editor,

Please join me in congratulating the Winthrop High School Class of 2022 by inviting our townspeople to contribute to the Rona Mael Town Scholarship!  Each year, this coveted award, the only scholarship from the Town of Winthrop, is presented at graduation to a deserving student.  The Winthrop Scholarship Committee wants you to know that there is still time to contribute to our town scholarship, named after Rona Mael, a much beloved high school educator and community activist who served on the scholarship committee since 1980 until her death a few years ago.

Donations to the Rona Mael Town Scholarship may be made by sending a check to the Winthrop Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, One Metcalf Square, Winthrop, MA  02152.  Please make checks payable to Town of Winthrop, indicating Rona Mael Town Scholarship on the memo line.

Please join us in continuing Rona Mael’s passion for connecting students to funding for their educational needs!

Thanks of behalf of the Winthrop Scholarship Committee,

Mary Lou Osborne, Chair

An Opportunity To Be Heard

Dear Editor:

On Monday May 16 at 6:30 pm the Winthrop Republican Town Committee is hosting an hour with Senator Lydia Edwards. This one hour event is a perfect opportunity for the community and those individuals that feel their voices are not being heard in the one party state of Massachusetts. Help Senator Edwards know what issues are important to you or respectfully comment on important current topics.

• Due to capacity constraints free admission to this May 16th event must be obtained by registering on Facebook at “Winthrop Republican Town Committee” Facebook account, or

• emailing [email protected]

• Comments or questions for Senator Edwards should be submitted to the â€œWinthrop Republican Town Committee” Facebook account or emailing [email protected]. This will permit as many comments and questions from the community as time permits.

The WRTC encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity for respectful dialogue which will take place at the Winthrop Senior Center, 35 Harvard Street in Winthrop.Paul Caruccio
Chairman WRTC
