Thank You, Anthony Petruccelli

The announcement by State Senator Anthony Petruccelli that he will be resigning from office to take a job with the firm of Kearney, Donovan, and McGee, removes from the local scene a dedicated legislator who did much for our town during his seven-year tenure as our State Senator during which time he rose to become one  of the leaders as the Majority Whip.

Senator Petruccelli was a familiar figure in our community who came to know many of our townspeople on a personal basis. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

Among those rumored to become a candidate to succeed Senator Petruccelli is well-known local attorney Joe Boncore. Atty. Boncore, the son of Town Council member Phil Boncore, is well-known and respected in Winthrop and has ties to East Boston. He would be a formidable candidate for State Senate if he chose to seek that office.
