Nancy DeMild

Her legacy of compassion and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her

 Nancy J. DeMild, a beloved member of the Winthrop community and a proud veteran of the Korean War, passed away on June 30, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on October 4, 1931, Nancy was a lifelong resident of Winthrop, where she touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity and unwavering spirit.

Nancy served her country with honor and distinction as a member of the US Navy during the Korean War, demonstrating courage and dedication in defense of freedom. Her service was a testament to her patriotism and love for her country. After her discharge, she went on to work as a telephone operator.

In addition to her military service, Nancy was deeply involved in the Winthrop community. She was a cherished member of the Winthrop Senior Center, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the well-being of her fellow residents. Nancy was also a dedicated member of the Saint John Mother’s Club and the Seaside Tappers, where she found joy in supporting her community and fostering a sense of unity among its members.

One of Nancy’s greatest passions was sports, particularly her unwavering support for the Boston Red Sox. A devoted fan, she cheered on her team through victories and defeats, embodying the true spirit of loyalty and sportsmanship.

She was the devoted wife of the late Robert H. DeMild and the loving mother of Cheryl Ann DeMild Nichols and her husband, Stephen and Donna M. West and her husband, Roger, all of Winthrop, Robert H. DeMild, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Reading and Richard P. DeMild and his wife, Joanne of Wakefield; dear sister of Joseph O’Meara of Wakefield and Robert O’Meara and his wife, Helen of Malden; cherished grandmother of Alexandria, Stephanie and her fiancé, Michael, Michael, Jacqueline, Kelsey, Kimberly, Krista, Bailey and Brian. She was the daughter of the late Mary C. (Collins) and Joseph P. O’Meara.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Nancy J. DeMild will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the Winthrop community. May she rest in peace, knowing that her legacy of compassion and strength will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Beth Ann Troisi

Graduate of Winthrop High School,

Class of 1982

Beth Ann Troisi, 60, of Westport and Hyde Park passed away at home on Wednesday, June 26. She was the wife of Linda J. Scherer for twenty years, but together for thirty-two years.

Mrs. Troisi was born in Winthrop, daughter of Jo-Ann (Theberge) Troisi of Winthrop and the late Emilio Troisi. She grew up in Winthrop, graduating from Winthrop High School Class of ‘82. She attended Johnson and Wales University’s culinary program and the UMASS Dartmouth Artistry Program.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and going to the Westport Social Club. She had homes in Hyde Park and Westport and had come to adopt Westport as her hometown, which she cherished.

She loved catching beach sunrises with her beloved dog, Randall, but most of all she enjoyed transforming her acre yard into a tranquil garden. The garden at times was a place of community where her friends would gather and celebrate life, while enjoying food Beth cooked from her heart.

She was a chef by trade, cooking for Brigham and Women dignitaries, being a private chef at Ellenhorn and starting her own catering company which led to opening her own restaurant, JP Goods in Jamaica Plain.  She also had an interest in metals, and had many jobs making jewelry and collecting antiques.

Survivors along with her wife and mother include her brother, Eric Troisi and his wife, Kim of Wasilla, AK; two sisters: Karen Farrell and her husband, Robert of Wilmington and Joyce Troisi of Winthrop and nine nieces and nephews: Jordan, Dylan, Jillian, Lindsay, Robert, Jack, Madison, Christian and Adrian.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to  the Potter Funeral Home, Westport, MA.
