Suffolk County Sheriff Steve Tompkins To Host Meet and Greet

Suffolk County Sheriff Steve Tompkins, who is a candidate for re-election in the Democratic Primary on September 6, is hosting a Meet and Greet on Thursday, September 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Winthrop Arms, 130 Grovers Avenue. This is a free event, and all Winthrop residents are cordially invited to attend.

Steve Tompkins was appointed to serve as Sheriff in 2013 by Governor Deval Patrick and was re-elected in 2014 and 2016. As Sheriff of Suffolk County, Tompkins manages all operations at the Suffolk County House of Correction, the Nashua Street Jail, and the Civil Process Division. In addition to providing care, custody and rehabilitative support for inmates and pre-trial detainees, Tompkins also oversees a management, security, and administrative staff of over 1,000 people. This Meet and Greet is an opportunity for citizens to hear directly from the Sheriff about the many programs the Sheriff’s Department has created to break the cycle of incarceration and recidivism. Tompkins will talk about what has been accomplished over the past nine years, and what he wants to do in the future
