The Winthrop Farmers Market at French Square opens for the season, Sunday, June 15 from 11am to 3pm. The market will feature produce from local farms, craft vendors, live music and new for 2014 – food trucks.
The volunteer committee organizing the market has worked throughout the winter to make the 2014 season the biggest and best yet. Dates have been set for the following Sundays: June 15 and 29, July 13 and 27, August 10 and 24 and September 7 and 21.
The June 15 market will feature a wide array of farms and vendors including fresh fruit and vegetables from Massachusetts’ own Silverbrook Farm and Brookford Farm. Matt’s Amazing Smokehouse will be selling locally sourced fish which is smoked the same day in micro-batches. And Winthrop vendors like Merrill Frank Pottery and La Petite Boutique will be selling crafts, clothing, jewelry and accessories. For all the hair cutters, quilters and chefs both professional and amateur, National Sharpening Co. will be on hand to hone your tools. Kids and adults alike can get their faces painted by ZeeBree Art.
Enjoy crèpes from food truck, Benny’s Crepe Café while listening to up and coming singer-songwriter Kyle Davis. Davis is an 18 year old singer from Lexington, Massachusetts, who writes and composes his own songs, ranging from jazz to soul to pop, touching on a variety of topics including love and heartbreak. Davis’ album “Have It All” is a perfect blend of fun tunes and emotional ballads.
