Yes, it’s strange to see the demolition work happening on a portion of the Temple Tifereth Israel property on Veterans Road. The temple has become such a familiar site for long-time Winthrop residents and the Jewish community, led by Temple President Sandra Pellegrino, who has worked with the members to keep the temple strong and vibrant.
Soon, a new era will begin with the construction of new living spaces for older residents, while a newly refurbished temple will welcome members and friends for the Jewish holidays, events, and Hebrew School classes.
The transformation of this well-known building is a step forward for the Beach section of our town and will do much to beautify the entire area. It’s been a proposal that has been in the works for awhile and now it seems we finally will be seeing a beautiful new house of worship and housing development in the not-too-distant future.
