Holgersen selected to Boston Herald All Scholastic Team

Winthrop High School hockey captain Mike Holgersen was selected to the 2025 Boston Herald All-Scholastic Hockey Team.

Holgersen completed his outstanding hockey career with a hat-trick in the Vikings’ 3-0 victory over Dedham in the state championship game at the TD Garden. During the season, Holgersen surpassed the 100-point career milestone.

“It’s a much-deserved honor for Mike,” said Winthrop head coach Dale Dunbar. “Mike was a great leader who put together a tremendous season. He was a big part of our turnaround.”

The Holgersen Hat Trick at the Garden – the biggest stage in high school sports – ranks as an all-time performance in the program’s history. “To have a hat trick in the Garden in the last game of the year – his first high school hat trick – that’s pretty amazing,” said Dunbar. “In all of the years that the finals have been played at the Garden, Mike’s in elite company.”

Holgersen and teammate, senior goaltender Michael Donahue, were named Boston Globe Honorable Mention.

Dale Dunbar was selected the Boston Globe Division 4 Coach of the Year (see page 9).
