Memorial Day Brunch at Beachmont VFW

Sen. and First Lt. Lydia Edwards cordially invites all residents to attend a Memorial Day Brunch on Friday, May 24, at the Beachmont VFW, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature residents from Revere, Winthrop and East Boston.

Major Track Meet Coming to Winthrop

A local organizing committee has formed to bring a New England Championship event to the new track at Miller Field. The date selected is the evening of July 13. The title of the meet is “Twilight by the Sea.” The Greater Boston Track Club will manage the event under sanction from the New England Association of United States Track and Field.

The organizing committee has planned a “Winthrop only” section of the mile race. Entries will be accepted at a discount from anyone who resides in Winthrop. Entries and results will be displayed by town precinct. So in this Olympic year who is the fastest miler in town? Who is the fastest miler in each precinct?

The feature event will be a 10,000 meter race that is planned to be an New England Championship pending approval of the certifying association. The post meet gathering place will be the Drop Zone.

The local committee is Winthrop track coach Nik Beshere, Paul McGee, Gary Skomro, Paul Caruccio,  Jason Polutro, and Tom Derderian. More information will appear on the GBTC website: https://www.gbtc.org under events.
