Elizabeth Vitkovich

Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother

Elizabeth A. (Flynn) Vitkovich of Revere, formerly of Lynn, passed away on February 8. She was 82 years old.

Born in Winthrop, she was the cherished daughter of the late Elizabeth (Muncey) and Joseph M. Flynn.

Prior to her retirement, Elizabeth worked in the fashion and retail industry. It was an occupation she truly had a passion for and enjoyed right up until her retirement. Elizabeth loved antiquing, decorating and was an avid reader. In her younger years, she loved ballet and modern dance. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother.

Elizabeth was the devoted mother of Eva Grizzell of North Andover and Nicole Devanna and her husband, Jamie Jones of Nashville, TN. She was the adored grandmother of Jamie Gendron of Brookline and Jacob Carter and his wife, Naddia of Nashville, TN and the loving great-grandmother of Jackson Carter. Elizabeth was the dear sister of Joseph Flynn of Winthrop, Kathleen Vilasi of Revere and Rosie Flynn of Vermont.

Visiting hours were held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop, on Wednesday, February 14, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home. Interment was in the Winthrop Cemetery, (Belle Isle Section.)

Giovanna D’Aiello

Retired Seamstress

Giovanna D’Aiello of Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on February 6, 2024. She was 94 years old.

Born in Palermo, Sicily, she was the beloved daughter of the late Giuseppina (Martino) and Giuseppe Barbera. A resident of Winthrop for over 60 years, she worked as a seamstress prior to her retirement.

She was the devoted wife of the late Cosimo D’Aiello and the loving mother of Joseph D’Aiello of Winthrop, Anthony D’Aiello of Salem, Pierina Parece and her husband, Warren of North Reading and John D’Aiello and his wife, Lisa of Winthrop; dear sister of the late Pino and Toto Barbera, sister in law of Mariella Barbera of Sicily and cherished grandmother of Julianne, Michelle and Mitchell, Jonathan, Andrew and Matthew.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Monday, February followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Services concluded with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Roland H. Pearce Jr.

Dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather

Roland H. Pearce Jr. of Winthrop passed away on February 9. He was 86 years old.

The beloved husband of the late Margaret F. “Peggy” Pearce, he was born in Winthrop, the cherished son of the late Dorothy (Mallard) and Roland H. Pearce Sr.

Roland was employed as the general supervisor for National Construction for 30 years. After retirement from National Construction, he later went to work for the Sheraton Corporation as a facilities manager. Roland served in the U.S. Coast Guard for a brief time and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks #1078 and the American Legion, Post #318, in Port St. Lucie, FL. Roland was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed attending all of his family’s sporting events or any of their other activities. Roland was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching any professional or collegiate sporting event, whether in person or on television.

He was the devoted father of Michael Pearce and his wife, Koi of East Boston, Laurie Greene and her husband, Kevin of Londonderry, NH, Linda Disciscio and her husband, Chuck of Litchfield, NH and Leanne Silverman and her husband, Peter of Winthrop; the adored grandfather of Amanda Briand and her husband, Joshua, Alex Disciscio, Ann Margaret Swanson and her husband Joshua, Maddison and Petey Silverman and Charlotte and Scarlett Pearce and the loving great-grandfather of Maveryk and Caleb Briand. Roland was the dear brother of June Sicurella and her husband, Joe of Revere, Julie Pearce of Milton and Jacqui Meehan of Dorchester.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church (St. Michaels Parish) 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Monday, February 19, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Please go directly to church.
