Anthony Mark Rorick

Dedicated Husband, Father and Grandfather

Anthony Mark Rorick, 80, of Hyde Park, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on December 8 surrounded by loved ones.

Anthony was born on July 6, 1943 in Pasadena, California, the son of Max and Marjorie Rorick.  He was raised in Winthrop where he married the love of his life, Patricia O’Donnell, on September 15, 1965 and where they raised their two children, Michelle and Michael. 

Anthony graduated from Winthrop High School and served his country in the United State Army in Okinawa during the Vietnam War where he worked on servicing generators. Anthony spent the majority of his career servicing the people of Winthrop through his employment at the Rapid Transit Bus Company.  Pat and Tony moved to Vermont in 2002.  

He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He cherished spending time with family and especially loved conversation and laughs around the dinner table.  Anthony’s passion was music and movies.  He had an enviable collection of both and took great pleasure in sharing these with others.  He also liked travelling to new places.  He enjoyed camping, going on cruise ships with his wife as well as long distance bus tours.  Another favorite activity was going on picnics with family, Crystal Lake was one of his favorite state parks.  Anthony also had a great affinity for nature and the outdoors.  He took great pleasure in bird watching and spending time outside.  He was an active member of the local VFW and American Legion.

Anthony is survived by his two children, Michelle Pelton and her husband, Rand of Elmore, VT and Michael Rorick and his wife, Caterina of Framingham. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Jesse, Darius and Peninnah of Elmore, VT and Kaden of Framingham, MA. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia and his brother, Nathaniel Rorick.

Hours of visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, 97 Church Street, Hardwick, VT. Burial will take place in the spring of 2024. Time to be announced.

Pamela Dawson

Retired Mass Tax Examiner and Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Evangelist Parish

Pamela M. Dawson of Winthrop went peacefully to her Lord surrounded by family on December 12th at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine. Pam, as she was known to her friends and loved ones, was 71 years old. She was the beloved daughter of Mary T. (Spillane) and Philip J. Dawson.

As a graduate of Emmanuel College in Boston, Pam dedicated herself to her studies and building a career. She retired from her position as a tax examiner with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in July of 2023. She was exceptionally devout in her faith, having been part of Saint John the Evangelist parish her entire life where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister in her later years.

Pam was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Daniel P. Dawson. She leaves behind Margaret “Peggy” Bayliss of Calais, ME, Paul Dawson and wife, Joy of Rochester, MA, Sandra M. Dawson of Revere and Philip J. Dawson, Jr. of Tennessee. Pam did not have any children but she was especially proud of her nieces Sarah Seelye and her husband, Nick of Calais, ME, Elizabeth Brownell and her beautiful son, Lucas of Rhode Island, Alexandra Merfeld and her husband, John of Brighton and her nephews: Ryan Bayliss and his partner, Mary of Pembroke, ME, and Matt Brownell and his wife, Carly of New York. She also dearly loved her great niece and nephew, Hannah and Manny of Calais, ME.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop, on Monday, December 18th followed by a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Peter Graziano celebrated the mass and offered prayers at the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

David H. Enggren

MIT Retiree and Member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club

David H. Enggren of Winthrop passed away at the Advocate Healthcare in East Boston on December 18. He was 85 years old. Born in Canada, the beloved son of the late Irene and Henry Enggren, he enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam war serving as a Radar Repairman. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as a defense analyst at MIT. He was also a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club.

He was the devoted husband of Bethanne (Boyd) who also shared his love of sailing..
