WHS Fall Sports Swing Into High Gear

The Winthrop High fall athletic program gets underway this week with the WHS golf team, under the direction of new head coach Jack Wallace, swinging into action today (Thursday) with a match against Northeastern Conference (NEC) rival Peabody at the Winthrop Golf Club. Wallace and his crew will host NEC foe Beverly next Tuesday and will travel to NEC opponent Salem next Wednesday.

The Viking boys and girls soccer teams both open their season next Wednesday. Coach Phil Ronan and his boys’ squad will host NEC foe Saugus at 6:30 under the lights at Miller Field, while  Tracey Martucci and her girls’ crew will trek to Saugus.

Coach Nik Beshere’s boys and girls cross country teams will entertain Peabody on the Deer Island course on Wednesday and the Lady Viking volleyball team, led by head coach Lauren Kelly, travels to non-league rival Excel Academy next Thursday.
