Todd Sacco Announces Candidacy for Councilor-at-Large

Todd Sacco announced his candidacy for councilor-at-large at a campaign kickoff event Aug. 25 at Adriana’s Café.

Following is the text of Todd Sacco’s speech to his many supporters at the event:

“I am a graduate of Winthrop High School Class of 86. A class, by the way, that the retiring Principle John Domenico stated was the best class to graduate from Winthrop High under his leadership! I’ve lived in Winthrop for 51 years, having moved here when I was three years old from East Boston.

On the first day of my life in Winthrop I couldn’t believe what a GREAT town I had the fortune to live in. Beaches, boats, marshes, parks, and great neighborhoods we could ride our bikes through safely. The little hamlet that once was Winthrop is changing and that change is making it more difficult for our community of teachers, firefighters, police and all town employees, painters, contractors, and small businesses owners to afford to live here comfortably. Our working families, and our elderly are being squeezed out by ever rising water rates, trash fees, parking fees, user fees in schools, and debt exclusions. The people should be deciding these issues on the ballot.

As Councilor at large I Support:

1. Giving more power and transparency to the people

2. A thriving community that supports all of its residents, not just special groups

3. Responsible development – we should not be developing density in our neighborhoods, that is

for the CBD, Shirly street, and other commercially zoned areas

The best communities are built around their schools, churches, synagogue’s and community centers. The best communities prioritize families. I can’t promise you I’ll be successful, but, I can promise you that nobody will work harder and fight harder, and be more transparent than me.

I’m proud to be asking for your support on November 7th!”
