WIHA’s “Hope” Ornament for 2020 Goes on Sale Nov. 1

Special to the Transcript

The Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association (WIHA) has announced that the design of this year’s Holiday ornament will depart from the usual theme of a well-known Winthrop landmark.

According to WIHA President Michael Herbert, “In this year of Covid, all we can do is take care of one another and Hope. Hope that everyone is safe; Hope that there will be a vaccine soon; Hope that our lives will return to normal.  Our ornament represents all those sentiments.”

WIHA enlisted the creativity of artist Susan Saulnier in crafting the design, a lighted candle in a holiday motif.  Susan is now based in Florida, but she grew up on Shirley Street, right next door to the historic Deane Winthrop House.

The price per ornament is $10 and will be available for purchase on November 1. To buy your ornament, please leave your name and phone number at (617) 846-0074, or email us at [email protected]

Ornaments will also be sold at the Webster First Federal Credit Union, Shirley True Value Hardware, Woodside Ace Hardware, Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, Winthrop Arms, Winthrop Book Depot, Winthrop Meat Market, Swett’s Liquors, and Salon Luxo, On Sunday, November 15th, the ornaments will be available for sale at Winthrop Marketplace from 10am-1pm.
