Walter ‘Buddy’ Cash

Retired accountant

Walter J. “Buddy” Cash of Winthrop passed away at home surrounded by his girls on May 22. He was 75 years old.

Buddy was a proud Friend of Bill W. for 24 plus years and was thankful for each and

every one of those days.  He was a life member of the Winthrop Yacht Club and a member of the former Winthrop Jaycees where he established dear friendships that lasted his lifetime. Prior to his retirement, he was fortunate to be employed by the Tobia Family, as an accountant for the New England Casket Co. in East Boston.

He was the beloved husband of Geraldine L. (Aldridge) Cash, the son of the late Daniel A. and Kathleen V. (Hurley) Cash; devoted father of Christine M. Chavis and her husband, Michael, Carolyn A. Gagnon and her husband, Michael, all of Winthrop and Danielle T. Halderman and her husband, Brian of Swampscott; adored grandfather of Corey Elizabeth, Meghan, and Michael John Chavis and Katie and Ryan Gagnon; dear brother of Thomas Cash, Colin Cash and Peggy Ann Riley, all of Winthrop and the late Daniel Cash and Edward Cash. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He cherished his family above all else.

A Funeral Mass was held in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop on Wednesday, May 29. Donations in his memory can be made to The Women’s Shelter, 3425 North Main St., Columbia, S.C. 29203.

Edward Hanlon

Of Wilmington, formerly of Winthrop

Edward C. Hanlon of Wilmington, formerly of Malden and Winthrop, passed away on May 18, at the age of 91.

Edward was the beloved husband of Jean M. (Brennan) Hanlon, devoted father of Leslie Coye and her husband, Kenneth of Malden, Dana Doyle and her husband, James of Wilmington and Edward “Ned” Hanlon of Winthrop; loving “Grandpa” of Kristen Reidy and her husband Michael, Kathleen Christensen and her husband, Ryan, Erin Doyle and Ryan Hanlon and his wife, Elizabeth; great-grandfather of Sean Reidy, Jack, Eleanor and Maeve Hanlon; cherished son of the late William and Mary Sarah (Schwartz) Hanlon; dear brother of Paul Hanlon of California, Arthur Hanlon of New Hampshire, Dorothy Turner of California, the late William, Rita, Albert, Robert and Hubert Hanlon. Edward is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington was followed by interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Memorial donations in Edward’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Stephen J. VanDalinda

of Seabrook, N.H., formerly of Winthrop

1954 — 2018Stephen J. VanDalinda, of Seabrook, N.H., formerly of Revere and Winthrop, died unexpectedly with his dog Lucy on Aug. 29, 2018. Stephen was the loving husband and best friend of over 39 years to Erin (Madden), devoted father of Ryan, Devin and Shawna, all of New Hampshire. He was the youngest son of the late Edward and Mary VanDalinda. Best brother to Jerry VanDalinda, Rcihard VanDalinda and Cynthia (VanDalinda) Benker.

Stephen received a BS in Nursing from Salem State college and spent 33 years in the Healthcare field. Most recently as an Operatin Room Nurse in the Exeter Hospital/OSC, Exeter, N.H. Recently retired as Lt. Colonel, he was proud to have served his country for 29 years in the Massachusetts Aur National Guard.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop, MA. on Friday, June 7, at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of Stephen’s Life will be held at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks, 191 Washington St., Winthrop, MA, immediately following the Mass.
