Student Highlight: Martucci Shares Her Fundraising Goals

Fifteen-year-old Mia Martucci learned the importance of kindness at a young age. At just 8 years old, she felt compelled to buy dolls for kids with cancer and her giving heart just expanded from that moment on.

Since then, she has raised over $30,000 and donated over 70 bags of toys for the young patients at Boston Children’s Hospital. “What I enjoy most is that I get to make a difference in children’s lives and hope to make their time in the hospital a little easier,” said Martucci. “I also love to work with my mom and together we hope to make even more of a contribution in the years to come. I always hoped that my fundraising would become as big as it has, and the reality that it has, is really something special. I have the support of family, friends and the town of Winthrop to thank.”

So far, Martucci, has accomplished more than most, and someday hopes to make a career out of helping others. In addition to fundraising, she leads a busy life filled with school, activities, and family time.

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite subject is history. I really enjoy learning about the past and I love my class and have a great teacher, Mr. Leonardo.

What activities are you involved in?

Soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. I am also the president of my freshman class, a member of E-Boards, a student council member, and a social committee member.

Who is your role model?

My role model would have to be my mom. She’s not only my coach but she’s also my best friend. She has taught me so much and I hope to be just like her when I am older.

Any future goals?

My career goal is to become a special events coordinator and work with kids like me to fundraise for different causes. I would also love to play lacrosse at either Notre Dame, or UNH.
