When well-known Winthrop resident Gus Martucci gets involved in an event, we know these things are assured: It will be done professionally and with class and it will be a worthwhile event to attend. Such is the case with the NFL Draft Party that is being held tonight (Thursday) at the Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus. New England Patriots players Jonas Gray, Joe Vellano, and Ryan Allen and other celebrities will be attending. NFL player agent and former Salem High quarterback Sean Stellato is the host of the event and Stellato told us how grateful he is to Gus for his support of this great event.
We remember Gus’s playing days well for the WHS football team and how he helped the Vikings win their first Super Bowl title in 1981, the start of three consecutive unbeaten seasons for coach Bob DeFelice and Company. We know that Gus likes to keep all the wonderful things he does for this town and its residents low key, but we hope Winthrop residents will consider being part of tonight’s event at the Kowloon.
