Winthrop Community Food Pantry will hold Ethical Electronics Recycling Event at First Church on Saturday November 16, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., RAIN OR SNOW OR SHINE!
The event will be held in the parking lot, First Church of Winthrop United Methodist, 217 Winthrop Street, Winthrop, MA 02152
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR FREE: Cell phones, smartphones (like iPhone), E-Readers (like Kindle and Nook), tablets (like iPad), PDAs, laptop computers, desktop computer cases/towers (except those with built-in or integral screens), servers, ink cartridges, and toner cartridges.
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR $5 PER SMALL CONTAINER: computer parts and peripherals like matrix switches, multiplexers, docking stations, modems, keyboards, mice, routers, circuit boards, power supplies, hard drives, memory, cables, cords, wires, small computer speakers, CDs, DVDs, videotapes, cassette tapes, 8-track tapes, reel-to-reel tapes, remotes, personal MP3 and CD players, answering machines, pagers, tape recorders, USB Media, Zip Disks, DLT tapes, floppy diskettes.
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR $5 each: still and video cameras and lenses, game systems and games, toasters, mixers, coffeemakers, popcorn poppers, and small kitchen appliances.
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR $10 each: small printers, small scanners, small copiers, small fax machines, flat-screen computer monitors, marine electronics, stereo equipment and components, stereo speakers, radios and radio equipment, CD players, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, VCRs, digital, slide, and overhead projectors, typewriters, fans, vacuum cleaners, power tools, and small containers of household batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9 Volt).
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR $25 each: Filing cabinets, chairs, tables, desks, large printers, large copiers, CRT computer monitors (boxy, old monitors), computers with integral or built-in screens, UPS Back-ups/Batteries, large printers, large copiers, large scanners, microwave ovens, air conditioners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, wine chillers, icemakers, and heaters.
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR $30 each: Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, water coolers, refrigerated and non-refrigerated vending machines, and ATM machines (decommissioned).
TELEVISIONS ACCEPTED, FEE BASED ON SIZE: TV Recycling Fee is $1 per diagonal screen inch (fee for 19†TV would be $19). Exceptions: projection and console TVs are $45 each.
RECYCLING FEES: recycling fees are payable by cash, check, MasterCard, or VISA.
