There will be a tremendous gathering Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Winthrop Senior Center when a ceremony will be held to rename the center the Robert A. DeLeo Senior Center in honor of the Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
It is a fitting and much-deserved honor for Bob who has been an advocate and supporter of all seniors for his entire life, notably on the Board of Selectmen and throughout his career as state representative and current leader of the entire 160-member body.
Bob DeLeo has become a statewide celebrity and political leader, but he never has forgotten the Winthrop residents he so commendably represents each day on Beacon Hill. Bob has been an outstanding representative for all of our residents, from our schoolchildren to our seniors. A former Little League All-Star player and manager, Bob has been particularly supportive of our youth and high school athletic programs, most recently as a donor for the WHS football team’s pre-game dinner.
We are fortunate to have Bob DeLeo at the helm of the House of Representatives doing all he can to make Winthrop a better place. Saturday’s ceremony is a great opportunity for the residents to say “Thank You, Bob” for all that you have done for our town and our seniors.
It will be a great day for our Speaker, his family, and all of his friends in Winthrop.
