Florence Campanaro

East Boston resident

Florence R. Campanaro of East Boston died on September 5.

She was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The loving daughter of the late Nicholas and Pasqualina (Madio) Campanaro; she was the dear sister of the late Domenic and Gabriel Campanaro, Mary Forlani and Anna Forziati. She is survived by her many adored nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Ruggiero Mazzarella Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St (Orient Heights) East Boston on Friday Sept. 10 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of her life in St. Joseph St. Lazarus Church, Ashley Street, East Boston at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Michael Bright

East Boston resident

Michael P. Bright of East Boston died suddenly on September 4.

The beloved son of Irene G. (Sullivan) and the late Thomas J. Bright, he was the brother of Patricia Imbriano and her husband, Louis, Thomas J. Jr. and his wife, Jeanne, Daniel and his wife, Janet, twin brother of Robert and his wife, Diane, John and his fiancŽe, Joana, Coleen and her fiancŽ, Vincent, James and his fiancŽe, Brenda, Donald, Mary and Kathleen Bright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held from the Magrath Funeral Home, 325 Chelsea St. (at Day Sq.) East Boston Friday morning at 10 followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Holy Redeemer Church at 11 o’clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the American Heart Assn. would be appreciated.

 

Teresa Crosby

Northeast/Delta Airlines retiree

Teresa M. (Monaghan) Crosby of Winthrop died at the Annmark Nursing and Rehab. Center on September 2. She was 81 years old.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Crosby was an employee of Northeast/Delta Airlines.

Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Bolwell) Monaghan; the beloved wife of the late Norman W. "Nick" Crosby; devoted mother of Charlene M. Flaherty and her late husband, Gerard, of Sagamore Beach and Teresa L. Cookson and her husband, Richard, of Winthrop; dear sister of Rita Burke of California and the late Verna Moody, Philip, Stephen, and Richard Monaghan; adored Nana to four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Adeline Allen

East Boston resident

Adeline (Cassaro) Allen of East Boston died on September 4. She was 87 years old.

She was the wife of the late Arthur T. Allen, mother of the late William A. Allen, Sr; mother-in-law of Gail Allen; grandmother of William A. Allen, Jr. and his wife, Donna; great-grandmother of Tori and Billy III, all of Lynn; sister of Lee Contardo of Wakefield, Mary "Sue" Mahoney of Hudson, Julie Cassaro of Wakefield, Gloria Morrison of Swampscott, Edie Janielis and her husband, Joseph, of Winthrop and the late Michael Cassaro; sister-in-law of Phyllis Cassaro of Wakefield; she also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Constance Silva

Of Peabody, formerly of Winthrop

Constance "Connie" Ann (Zevolo) Silva of Peabody, formerly of East Boston and Winthrop, died peacefully on September 6 at Kaplan Family Hospice, Danvers. She was 93 years old.

She was the wife of the late Alfred F. Silva Sr., and the mother of the late Alfred F. Silva Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Maryanne, and her husband, Gerald Dechayne; her dear sister Phyllis Rubino, her loyal daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann (Collette) Silva; her cherished grandchildren, Chris Silva, Lauren Dechayne-Donati and her husband, Michael Donati, Derek Silva and his wife, Patti, and Cheryl Ahlquist and her husband, Diron and her precious great granddaughters, Katelyn, Allison, Rachel and Nicole. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbors and friends.

Her funeral will be held today, Thursday, September 9 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., West Peabody at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. David Jones

Former Winthrop Police Officer

David C. Jones of Seabrook, NH, formerly of Somerville, died on September 3. He was 74 years old.

A former Winthrop Police Officer, he was a US Marine Corps veteran, a 55 year member IUOE Local 4, and a life member of the Marine Corps League Detachment.

The beloved husband of Patricia (Joralmon) Jones, he was the loving father of Michael T. Jones and wife, Lorrie Cozzens, of Willow Spring, NC, Susan M. Peavyhouse-Jones of Rowley, Deborah E. Tilson and her husband, Michael, of Glendale, AZ, Laurie A. Jones-Cate and her husband, Bruce, of Hampton, NH, stepfather of Michael Keller and his wife, Doreen, of S. Hampton, NH, Thomas Keller of the Bedford VA Hospital, Lucas Keller and his wife, Pauline, of Bellingham, Andrea Bailey and her husband, Richard, and Martha Chateauneuf and her husband, Keith, all of Amesbury. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Madeline (Buckley) and stepson of the late Clarence L. Gammon, brother of the late Robert R. Jones and Madeline Mahoney.

Winthrop resident

Madeline (Carcerano) Colvario of Winthrop, formerly of the North End, died September 2 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 89 years old.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Julia (Corvo) and Giuseppe Carcerano, she resided in the North End of Boston prior to moving to Winthrop 45 years ago.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Colvario, devoted mother of Thomas and Claire Colvario, Joseph Jr. and Jean Colvario, John Colvario, Stephan and the late Donna Colvario, all of Winthrop, Maria and Paul Minchella of Beverly and the late Anthony and Ann Marie Colvario and dear sister of Frances Frate of Medford and Josephine Pettito of Peabody. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Retired Bonacarso Construction Co. Office Manager

Lillian G. (Bonacorso) Pirroni of Winthrop died August 25 at the Prospect House, Revere on her 92nd birthday.

Born in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Anna (Cambria) and Antonio Bonacorso, she lived in East Boston prior to moving to Winthrop 68 years ago. Before her retirement, she was the office manager for Bonacarso Construction Company for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Pirroni, devoted mother of Elizabeth Prendable-Whelan and her husband, David Whelan, of Winthrop, dear sister of Mrs. Ann Roberson of Peabody and the late Josephine Maggio, Sylvia Guenard Costonis, Nancy Lengo, Mary Peluso, Grace Rebsamen, Nunzio Bonacorso, John Bonacorso and Anthony Bonacorso; loving grandmother of Michelle Prendable, Danielle Prendable and Nicole Prendable.

Photographer and senior center dance teacher

Vera E. (Colucci) Fussell of Woodside Avenue, Winthrop died at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston on August 31. She was 98 years old.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Genovina (Ferrara) and Gerardo Colucci, she resided in East Boston prior to moving to Winthrop more than 60 years ago. For many years she was always present at many of the local events as a photographer.with her Speed Graphic camera recording the festivities. She was very active in the local Senior Center where she conducted dance classes.

She was the beloved wife of the late William R. Fussell. _

Retired medical receptionist

Caroline S. (DeAngelis) DeVita of Winthrop died at her late residence after a long illness on September 1. She was 79 years old.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Florence (Serignano) and Henry DeAngelis, she resided in Winthrop for over 50 years. She worked for many years as a receptionist in a local medical office.

She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent A. DeVita; the loving mother of Karen M. Leslie and her husband, David, of Winthrop, Mary Ann Goddard of Winthrop and the late Stephen G. DeVita; sister of the late Henry C. DeAngelis; cherished grandmother of Brian, Caitlin, Brianna, Elizabeth and Stephen.

Eva (Milender) Arons of Roslindale, formerly of Revere and Winthrop, died on September 2. She was 109 years old.

The daughter of the late William and Rose Milender, she was the beloved wife of the late Charles Arons; loving mother of Gilbert Arons and his wife, Jacqueline, of Newton, Marjorie Gurwitz and her husband, William, of Florida and Arlene Kohen and her husband, Sheldon, of New York; dear grandmother of Michele, David, Karen, Lisa and Beverly and great grandmother of Tamar, Joshua, Rebecca, Jessica, Joshua and Alex.

Graveside Services were held at Lawrence Avenue Cemetery, West Roxbury. Remembrances may be made to Hebrew SeniorLife, 1200 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131. Arrangements were by Levine Chapels, Brookline.

 

Anna Monteleone

John Hancock Co. retiree

Anna J. Monteleone of River Road in Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, died on August 17 at the Whidden Hospital in Everett after a long illness. She was 76 years old.

Born in Boston, she was the devoted daughter of the late Maria (Gozzo) and Emanuele Monteleone, she resided in East Boston prior to moving to Winthrop 17 years ago. She worked as an accountant for John Hancock insurance Company for 42 years prior to her retirement.

She was the beloved sister of Mary and the late Frank Scudieri, Anthony and Paula Monteleone and Frank and Marie Monteleone, all of Winthrop. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Margaret M. Russo died in East Boston following a brief illness on August 24. She was 71 years old.

The beloved daughter of the late Amiello and Charlotte (Arabian) Russo, she was the devoted sister of Josephine M. "Joanne" Gleeson and her husband, William J. Sr., of East Boston and the late Peter Russo; cherished aunt of William J. Gleeson Jr., dear grand aunt of Chanelle M., Alise M. and William J. Gleeson III, all of East Boston. She is also lovingly survived by her surrogate sister Edith Fisher and her companion, John Cook, of East Boston, Kimberly, Al and Nicholas Bitto of Revere, Robert and Audrey, Robert Jr. and Zachary Fisher, David, Toni, Alexandria and David Fisher Jr., all of Winthrop, Danny S., Patricia, Justin S. and Matthew J. Smith of East Boston.
