Ramona Cooper

Died Tragically

Ramona R. (Robinson) of Winthrop passed away unexpectedly due to a tragic incident on Saturday, June 26 at 60 years of age.

Ramona and her twin sister, Regina, were born in New Haven, CT. After birth, they were adopted into the loving family of Weston and Alice Robinson. Ramona grew up in West Haven, CT and graduated from West Haven High School in June of 1979. Growing up she always dreamed of joining the Air Force and her dream came true in January of 1980. When Ramona first went into the air force, she attended basic training at Lackland Air Force base in Texas, then completed her technical training at Shepard Air Force Base, TX, for telecommunication.

After completion of her technical training, she was stationed at Dover Air Force Base where she met the love of her life, Gary R. Cooper, Sr. They married on March 12, 1983 and in 1987, they were stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany where they welcomed their first and only child, Gary R. Cooper Jr.

Ramona loved working with aircrafts and enjoyed many years at Pratt and Whitney, where she worked in the engineering department.  Her love for helping people led her to get a part time job, most recently working in the supply room at the VA in Jamaica Plain, MA.  

Ramona always loved the shore and the water, saying multiple times she would love living on the shore. This dream led her to the town of Winthrop, where she enjoyed listening to the waves and collecting seashells. Ramona lived in Winthrop until the time of her tragic death on June 26, 2021. Ramona will be truly missed by all. May she rest in peace.

The devoted mother of Gary R. Cooper Jr. and his wife, Rochelle, she was the cherished twin sister of Regina Robinson and the late Weston Robinson; dear grandmother of Isaac, Lyric and Kiara; beloved daughter of the late Weston and Alice Robinson and former wife of Gary R. Cooper Sr. She is also survived by her loving niece and nephew.

Family and friends honored Ramona’s life by gathering at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston, on Tuesday, July 6. Committal services were private. To leave an online condolence please visit www.ruggieromh.com.
