Summer Concert Series TO START

Tonight at Ingleside Park

The Winthrop Parks and Reecreation Department will begin its summer concert series tonight (Thursday, July 6).

The band, Soup Du Jour, will be performing at Ingleside Park, beginning at 7 p.m.

5K Run July 9

The Inaugural Freedom Fighters 5K run/walk to benefit Richard Honan’s care package program that sends boxes filled with comfort food, toiletries and treats to men and women deployed overseas while serving our country.

The 5K starts at Winthrop High School at 10 a.m. To register go to www.risingreg.com

WINTHROP IMPROVEMENT AND HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION HAS EVENTS PLANNED

The Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association have a summer filled with fun events!

2017 Music on the Lawn Wednesday Concert Schedule:

July 12 The Winthrop High School Alumni Band
July 26 The Boston Harbor Bhoys (Celtic and Irish-American music)
August 9 The People (rhythm and blues)

5th Annual Classic Car Show

Saturday August 19 at Ingleside Park from 10 am to 2 pm

Chamber holds Business district meeting

The Winthrop Chamber of Commerce will meet with Belle Isle District business owners on July 18 from 12-1 p.m. at Adrianas Pastry and Cafe at 119 Main St. Winthrop.

Center Area Construction Updates

Construction in the Center is continuing along.  Crew 1 is working until July 7 The crew will be completing the remaining 80 feet of main installation on Williams Street, then will move to Woodside Avenue to complete main installation there.  Crew 2 is working also through July 7.   Once Woodside Ave. work is complete, the crews will be setting up for the first main connection and activate the new main, which will be the week of July 17. Then they will proceed to start on customer services.

 

2017 STREET SWEEPING

The Town of Winthrop conducts Street Sweeping operations on the last full week of the month (last week with a Friday) through October between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM on the day of a street’s trash collection. If there is a holiday on the week sweeping would normally occur, a week early.
Town ordinance prohibits parking that impedes the street sweeping. Violation of the street ordinance carries a $40.00 fine, and the vehicle can be towed. The 2017 street sweeping dates are:

July 24-28

Aug. 21-25

Sep. 25-39

Oct. 23-27
