Celebrating 34 years of caring service: Bill Squires bids farewell to Championship Physical Therapy

After more than three decades of keeping local residents healthy and moving, Bill Squires has officially hung up his physical therapy coat.

Squires, alongside co-founder Kathleen Doherty, first opened the doors of Championship Physical Therapy on August 2, 1992. Over the past 34 years, the clinic became a cornerstone of health and wellness for residents in Winthrop and surrounding communities. When the business was sold to Performance Physical Therapy in 2025, Squires stayed on for an extra year to ensure his patients enjoyed a smooth transition before his official retirement on Sept. 8, 2026.

Looking back on his long career, Squires shared that serving local residents has been a true honor, offering his heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated employees and supportive patients who made Championship PT’s 34-year run possible. Friends and colleagues—including Kim Cash, Elizabeth Donovan, Priscilla Squires, Martha Shea, and Kathleen Doherty—recently gathered to wish Bill a very happy retirement and celebrate his remarkable career.

While he may be stepping back from physical therapy, Squires’ commitment to service isn’t stopping anytime soon. In his next chapter, he plans to spend his time volunteering and working with various non-profits and Catholic charities. Known throughout the area for his selfless approach, professionalism, and expertise, Squires leaves behind a lasting legacy of community care.
