Small Business Weekend
The Winthrop Chamber of Commerce wants to highlight its members during Winthrop Small Business Weekend, November 25 through November 27, 2016. Winthrop Small Business Weekend is an extension of the Small Business Saturday model. Chamber members are encouraged to develop and share a special or shopping deal for small business weekend. The idea is to promote the kickoff of the Holiday shopping season by encouraging folks to “Spend Local, Eat Local, Shop Local, Enjoy Local.â€
Spend a total of $100 or more at participating businesses (you can spread the wealth by shopping at multiple participants, your receipts from all purchases together must equal $100 or more) during Winthrop Small Business Weekend and receive a free gift of a $10 Winthrop Gift Certificate from the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce. Bring your receipts totaling $100 or more from participating chamber member businesses to the Chamber office by December 9, 2016 to receive your free gift certificate. It is that easy! Happy Local Holiday Shopping! Limit one redemption per person.
Boston Cadet Squadron Open House
On November 12 at 4 p.m. the Boston Cadet Squadron will hold an open house at 495 Summer St., Boston to share about the CAP Cadet Program. This year-round program allows cadets to fly, learn to lead, hike, camp, get in shape and push themselves to the limit. Perfect for teens thinking about a career in aviation, space or the military.
Reporter/Photographer to speak at library
Sue Ellen Woodcock, reporter and photographer, will share her photographs from her recent trip to Bosnia and Croatia on Thursday, November 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Winthrop Public Library, 1 Metcalf Square. Woodcock visited Bosnia and Croatia with the Salem State University Center for Genocide Studies to learn about the genocide there 20 years ago.
