BE VIGILANT AGAINST MOSQUITOES

Town wide spraying was conducted last week after receiving notice that a positive sample was found with the West Nile Virus. Some prevention tips are listed below to help residents protect themselves.

  • The best way to prevent mosquito bites is by keeping them away. Use mosquito repellant containing 25 to 35 percent DEET when you are outside.
  • Remove all stagnant water, including unused flower pots, wading pools, garbage cans, tires, and birdbaths as these sites become primary breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
  • Limit exposure to the outdoors after dusk when mosquitos are most active. Wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and socks to prevent bites when outside at night.
Just another friendly reminder that our parks and beaches have a Carry In and Carry Out policy. Please help maintain our recreational spaces and clean up after yourself.
