We call our readers’ attention to an opinion piece by Winthrop resident and PBS producer Niki Vettel in this week’s Sun Transcript about shopping in Winthrop for the holidays.
We couldn’t agree more with Vettel that there are some wonderful stores in Winthrop and great gifts to find in them for the holiday season. What a warm feeling for shoppers when they enter the store and recognize the owner as being a Winthrop person. Moreover, there are so many diverse businesses in the town that any person’s gift list can be satisfied.
Our former publisher, Andrew P. Quigley, coined the term: “Buy in, and build, Winthrop†to sum up the reason why it makes sense to support our local business community.
We urge our readers to read Ms. Vettel’s piece and heed her advice: Winthrop is a great place to shop.
