Thank You, Mary Lou: School Committee Chairperson Served with Distinction

School Committee Chairperson Mary Lou Osborne has announced that she will not be seeking re-election after seven years of service on the committee.

Mary Lou’s departure will leave a void on the School Board, where she truly stood out as a leader who clearly had the best interests of Winthrop schoolchildren at heart. During her tenure as chairperson, she conducted meetings professionally and most recently ran a very good and open selection process for the appointment of new Superintendent of Schools John Macero (although he was not her choice on the first ballot).

We know we join with all Winthrop residents in thanking her for her years of service on the committee.
