Retired Court System Clerk
Mary E. Carney, a longtime Winthrop resident, passed away at home on July 14, 2026. She was 68 years old. Born in Winthrop, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elaine (Kirley) and John G. Carney. She lived her entire life in Winthrop and earned the respect of all who knew her through her work as a clerk in the court system.
Mary loved the joys of travel, especially cruises, and she enjoyed staying active with aqua aerobics alongside friends. She valued family deeply and cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews, sharing in their laughter and growth.
She was the dear sister of John Carney, Jr., Daniel Carney, Joseph Carney, Stephen Carney and the late Maureen Carney and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass was held in the St. John the Evangelist Church on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
