WHS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony set for November 9, 2024

Robert M. DeGregorio Jr., President of the Winthrop High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, is pleased to announce that the 2024 Hall of Fame InductionCeremony will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks, 191 Washington Ave., Winthrop, MA. There will be a dinner buffet from 5:30pm until 7pm. The Induction Ceremony will begin at 7pm

The WHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is seeking nominations from the community. Nomination forms may be obtained from Richard D. Thibeau, Chairman of the Nomination Committee, by email at mccannthibeau@comcast.net.

Anyone may nominate an individual. In addition to the nomination form, which must be completed and signed, nominations should be accompanied by additional information pertaining to the nominee such as newspaper articles, letters, photographs, etc.

Membership in the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame is open to those individuals who have made significant contributions to the Winthrop High School Athletic Programs, either through their participation in athletics or their association with Winthrop Athletics as a coach, faculty member, or through exceptional service.  To be eligible as an athlete, the candidate must have graduated from Winthrop High School and must have been part of a class that graduated at least 10 years prior to nomination. The WHS Athletic Hall of Fame also recognizes other significant individuals, such as administrators and others who have made special contributions to the Winthrop High School Athletic Program.

Nomination forms must be returned by July 8, 2024, to WHS Athletic Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 520343, c/o Richard D. Thibeau, Winthrop, MA 02152.

The Winthrop High School Athletics Hall of Fame committee consists of twelve (12) members who are graduates of Winthrop High School and have been involved in athletics in the community and elsewhere. These individuals are, Robert DeGregorio -President, Chris Tsiotis-Vice President, Kevin Corkhum-Treasurer, Susan Freedland- Secretary, Richard Thibeau, Howie Conley, Peg Bailey, Pamela Gilfoyle Lund, Richard Fucillo, Robert DeFelice, Courtney Finn, and Phil Ronan.
